With it understood that I just posted my thoughts, the grades will be based on how well they made me believe what they said.
1) Since Charles Barkley appears to have MVP locked up, who is next in line if injuries were to knock him out?
SURVEY SAYS… All were solid as expected but Perth pulls this one out. He made a case for Julius better than others did for anyone. Clearly I think MJ is the MVP if it weren’t for Chuck but shocked nobody said fuck my question and went HAM about Chuck (besides Vancouver to a degree). Minnesota, I get it but a really good player on best team, so last decade dude.
Results: Perth 6, Vancouver 5, Bamberg 4, Cairo 3, New Orleans 2, Minnesota 1
2) Auckland is dominating right now but will Mike be able to get them to the finals? If not, who makes it out of Eurasia?
SURVEY SAYS… Wow. All you fuckers believe the same thing except New Orleans who decided to get on my train of though. Screw the question, let me have what I want. Cairo disappoints saying he doesn’t think it will be Auckland. Vancouver made me laugh but… Tel Aviv? Also, sneaky by Minnesota to mention Mikawa… GM is proven.
Results: New Orleans 6 Perth 5 Minnesota 4 Bamberg 3 Vancouver 2 Cairo 1
3) America is a clusterbomb right now, who makes it out of the conference to the finals? (apologies for wording but I meant just anyone’s race by clusterbomb)
SURVEY SAYS… Man, I was ready to award the NY folks until Bamberg dropped the schedule nuggets on my head. Well done there. That being said, Perth and Cairo mentioned the big men for NY which was spot on. Minnesota though guys… for real? Come on man.
Results: Bamberg 6 Minnesota 5 Cairo 4 Perth 3 New Orleans 2 Vancouver 1
4) Who are you most excited about that won't be a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft?
Bamberg: I'm ALWAYS excited to see what happens with my man Christian Laettner. I think Legends was his most impressive statistical run yet in ABCA, but I'm always looking for that one sim league where he actually lives up to that hype he had in college. I mean, he was on the DREAM TEAM...the least he can do is be an All-Star one of these times.
SURVEY SAYS… A lot of great points. Some counter arguments as well without knowing. Perth and Minnesota got theirs in before the 92 draft was announced or at the same time for Perth. That being said, I like the sneaky argument of Barnes and Green. Not sold on the let’s see what Laettner becomes talks. And Latrell? Dude for real? Minnesota isn’t grading this. Toney could be that guy hyped enough to get ratings boosts though!! I like it.

SURVEY SAYS… Really yall, it is CLEARLY? 1 Clearly Oden, 1 Clearly Parker, and 1 Clearly Oden because I have Parker. But all of you slept on what Perth said. Hellp? Purple/Purple scoring machine? Real talk, love the Minnesota response but the answer here is NOT clear. LOL’d at Cairo’s last sentence.

6) Who is your favorite to win GMotY (besides yourself)? IT Award?
SURVEY SAYS… Minnesota said What? GTFO. Lol at New Orleans anyone else comment. Cairo said what? Oddly enough, Minnesota is likely frontrunner to win GMotY despite him always trying to talk people out of voting for the one year flips.
Results: Bamberg 6 Perth 5 New Orleans 4 Cairo 3 Vancouver 2 Minnesota 1
Well, that’s it folks. Now let’s tally the score!
4. Minnesota 19
1. Perth 30
6. Vancouver 14
5. New Orleans 18
3. Cairo 22
2. Bamberg 23
Perth is the runaway winner and Vancouver the big loser. Bamberg edges out Cairo for 2nd while Minnesota finishes 4th followed by New Orleans.
1) Since Charles Barkley appears to have MVP locked up, who is next in line if injuries were to knock him out?
Minnesota: The issue for me is that the other big stat leaders are the best players on some fringe playoff teams. Since I can't really support that I will take the best player on the best team, Auckland's Radivoj Korac who is averaging 20/10/3/1.7 on good percentages. I know many give Harry Gallatin a lot of credit for the team's success and he deserves it. But from a numbers standpoint its clear the Korac is having the better season and for me that makes him the league's MVP (if Charles Barkley gets injured).
Perth: If Barkley went down for the rest of the season and someone else had to win MVP, my vote would go to Dr. J. Third in the league in VA and EWA, and 4th in PER, the Doctor is a strong two way player leading a solid team to the third best record in the Americas as of the writing of this. Julius averages 26 points and 8 rebounds a game, while also dishing 4 assists and shooting efficiently. He is exactly the kind of all around stud you want to build around.
I have to give out a couple of honorable mentions. Michael Jordan was the closest competition in my mind. If he can move his team up a little more in the standings he would be it. Also need to shout out my guy, Bob McAdoo, 5th in PER. He is absolutely carrying the load for my team and has jumped to another level this year.
Vancouver: The distance between Barkley and everyone else is astounding. He’s obviously the runaway lock for MVP seeing as he’s not only the best player in the league but he’s leading his team to the top of America. With that said, I would have to give it to Jordan. He’s a one man wrecking crew for Barcelona and doesn’t really have much offense beside him but he’s just carrying that team.
New Orleans: Michael Jordan is, to me, the clear #2 both in statistics and by nature of leading a division-leading team.
Cairo: Well to me the most valuable player isn’t necessary completely stat driven it is also driven by what would the team be like without that player. That narrows it down to me to four clear contenders for the award, Michael Jordan, George Mikan, Julius Erving and John Stockton. Barcelona recently showed how much they rely on Jordan going winless last sim without him. The best SG in the league, MJ brings it on both ends of the floor averaging 27.5 points. 6.8 boards, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals and he is still developing! However, getting hurt probably eliminates him. Beijing’s George MIkan is two unique things on that roster. First he is the only starter south of 30 in a team built to win right now. Second he is the only non-complimentary player on the roster. So even tho Mikan’s stats don’t scream MVP (20.5 points, 9.9 boards, 1 steal and 2.2 blocks) without him
Beijing would honestly be a pretty bleak situation. He is carrying that entire franchise on his thankfully broad shoulders. Dr. J is the man for Harlem in a situation that is similar to Beijing in that there is some solid talent around him but he the straw that stirs the drink to the tune of 25.8 points, 7.9 boards, 4.1 dimes and 1.2 steals. He is a do it all and do it all exceptionally well forward and I shudder to think of where Harlem would be without him. He makes players like Eddie Curry, Alan Henderson and John Starks look much better than they are. Finally, my own guy John Stockton. With Sam Jones going down with a severe concussion for over half the season the King of the Short Shorts is making a run as the king of the league putting up 22.3 points 5.5 boards and 2.9 steals, while leading the league in assists at 10.4 per game. The scary part is that Stockton has been off a bit shooting wise this year maybe perhaps because the best option on the team without Jones is David Lee.
So after looking at this, MJ is out due to injuries. Mikan is out due to not quite having the stats and Stockton is out for being a bit off shooting wise. That leaves the good doctor, Julius Erving as the MVP. He brings the best mix of on court production and DAMN this team would be terrible without him to the table.

Bamberg: I'll go with Michael Jordan (assuming he also doesn't miss any more time in this scenario), who has caught on fire this season and proven why he was the 1st overall pick in the creation draft. With a PER nearing 30 as a shooting guard, Jordan has been hyper efficient this season, and was leading his team to a run-away division title before an injury took them into a 7 game losing streak. If that doesn't prove how valuable he is to his team, I don't know what does...

2) Auckland is dominating right now but will Mike be able to get them to the finals? If not, who makes it out of Eurasia?
Minnesota: I really like what Elgin Baylor has been able to do for the Maccabi Tel Aviv but I think Piraeus Olympiacos BC has the more now-ready team. Malone is further along in his development and I think can be counted on to do more things than Baylor at this point in his young career. Both teams have good depth but again Tel Aviv's is just a little younger and a little less developed.
All of that said how can you put anything passed Mikawa? Even as an 8th seed he is a legitimate threat since he has one of the league's scoring leaders Sherman White. Don't sleep on the Aisin Seahorse.

Perth: I believe Mike will take this team back to the finals barring an injury or some other team making a serious trade. He had them within 1 game of winning the championship in the first year after he pulled the trigger on Gallatin. The team is playing even better than last year and has shown that they can be absolutely dominant during their current win streak. This team does not have much in the way of holes and should be considered the heavy favorite out in Eurasia.
If there were one team to pull it out it would be Piraeus. The GM has proven that he knows how to make championship DCs around season 2 and 3 of leagues. Also he has built a team that has a lot of talent. This team has taken on the personality of its leader, Hank Luisetti, steady and consistent. The key for them though is, they are not overly reliant on one guy; they have 5 guys averaging double digit points, 6 guys with over 4.8 rebounds. Depth of talent is always key.

Vancouver: Clearly, Beijing! Ok now that we got that laugh out of the way, I don’t see any team taking down Auckland if they stay healthy, which is a huge if. I’ve always said that injuries play such a huge role in determining the champion that it’s almost impossible to predict the winner. Anyway, Auckland is hands down best team in league but if there was someone who could potentially cause them issues it will be Maccabi. Their defense + Elgin will make them tough to beat and with a very road heavy schedule so far, I think they are just scratching the surface of what they’ll be.
New Orleans: I'm not sure I'd say that the Breakers are DOMINATING right now, I mean ... * looks at schedule * ... holy shit, they're 6.5 games ahead of 2nd place? Yeah, this is pretty easy: they're going to kill everyone. (And who the hell is Mike? Mike Cage?)
The ACTUAL Mike is my choice for the Finals if Auckland stumbles - Barcelona might be a very top-heavy team, but the chance of a Jordan vs. Barkley MVP-battle finals sounds pretty fun.

Cairo: Don’t think it will be Auckland. They should be the favorite but the depth of the conference means every round is gonna be a dog fight. I will say it will be Pira. as they have the defense to play with any team and the depth (5 guys in double figures scoring/7 guys over 7 ppg) to make life hard for any team. If Pira. falters I think it will because they are a bit light in the backcourt, but the GM has proven he knows how to win early in leagues and has built really sneaky good team, mainly through his craftiness in the trade market.
Bamberg: Right now, it would take a miracle for anyone other than Auckland to come out of Eurasia in the playoffs. No other team in the conference has a winning record on the road and only two teams are playing .500 ball away from home. If I had to pick this upset team though, I'll go with Piraeus, who has the most complete starting lineup (outside of Auckland) in the conference. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Xeniese makes a move before the deadline to bolster his squad heading into the playoffs.

3) America is a clusterbomb right now, who makes it out of the conference to the finals? (apologies for wording but I meant just anyone’s race by clusterbomb)
Minnesota: Even though the Bulls were ousted in the 1st last year they still need to be the favorites and for good reason. They have the best player in the league - Charles Barkley. No one wants to face them. After signing a monster contract in the offseason Point Guard Mike Conley is having a terrific year. 2.5 steals is no joke. Chicago is a team with good guard depth - maybe the best in the league. The only thing that would take them out of contention is if Barkley is out for the season. Otherwise if he has a game left in him you can't count out the Bulls.
Perth: I would be more confident in this if they could find a way to trade for a better center, but I’m putting my pick on the big broad shoulders of the Round Mound of Rebound. I think the lack of a center may hurt him in a series against the Knicks, as the Knicks can play matchups with his big men. But when there is a cluster, I like to put my money on the guy running away with the MVP trophy. Barkley is playing at a level rarely seen in the ABCA world, averaging 34 and 9, while shooting over 60%. The rest of the team are not slackers either. Mike Conley is a great all around PG, living up to the massive contract he signed in the offseason. Right now I really see this conference as a crapshoot, but in a crapshoot, who takes bigger craps than Charles Barkley.
Vancouver: I like Barkley leading the team but I may give it to my division foe Minnesota. He’s got too much talent overall but if anyone of his players goes down, there’s not much depth but that logic applies to most teams. Therefore, I’m going to roll with Minnesota – I think he will make a trade to somehow get a player to start instead of Wah Wah Jones and that will catapult them ahead of Chicago.
New Orleans: Don't talk trash about the Americas, where (as of posting these answers) seven different teams are over .600 (compared to just three in Eurasia). I think the Bulls have this pretty easily, though never count out the Knicks who always seem to take advantage when they're not in my division.
Cairo: Who cares? It’s a clusterbomb because it is 5 good teams and everybody else trying to rebuild. The problem is you cannot all rebuild and this isn’t shaping up to be the draft to have everybody rebuild. That said I like two teams. The Knicks are doing what the Knicks do (be better than you on both ends in the paint and get some underlooked perimeter play. I also like the Twolves although they are talking about trading Belov which would really knock that team down imo. So given that I will go with the Knicks as I think Oden, Daniels and Haynes are pretty unique trio in the league right now and somehow all underrated. Sorry to throw shade at you NY by pointing out how good you are when you are just laying in the grass waiting to strike.
Bamberg: It's the Bulls, and I don't think it's as close as people seem to think. Auckland might have won 20 games in a row, but Chicago is 30-10 in the tougher conference (this season), and they are a staggering 17-6 on the road so far. They have played a road heavy schedule to start the season, making their play all the more impressive.
SURVEY SAYS… Man, I was ready to award the NY folks until Bamberg dropped the schedule nuggets on my head. Well done there. That being said, Perth and Cairo mentioned the big men for NY which was spot on. Minnesota though guys… for real? Come on man.

4) Who are you most excited about that won't be a top 5 pick in the upcoming draft?
Minnesota: Probably a little early to tell without the 3rd draft selected but I think guys like Bradley Beal, Draymond Green, and Khris Middleton could be very interesting prospects. I think there is a chance Beal could go in the Top 5 as he is likely the best 2-guard at this point. Green's defensive capabilities could go a long way to insuring he has a long career in ABCA. Of course Middleton's 3-point shooting with be covetted by those teams who like to snipe. This draft class has some really unique talent in it that could help shape some rosters. Even if you don't have a pick in the Top 5.
If I had to pick one I'd probably rather have Green because of his versitility but honestly how could you pass up the shooting of Beal or Middleton if you had the opportunity to add that to your roster?
If I had to pick one I'd probably rather have Green because of his versitility but honestly how could you pass up the shooting of Beal or Middleton if you had the opportunity to add that to your roster?
Perth: The guy I am most excited about who will not be a top 5 pick is Harrison Barnes. Looking back on how certain players in Legends played and how he has started to come along in the NBA, Barnes looks like a guy who can be a dangerous stretch 4 in this league. At 6’8” he has the size to play PF next to a true center and will be a scary all around player with the ability to hit the 3 and play solid defense. He may not come out elite at anything, but he should be good at most things. He could be the guy who is one TC jump from being scary.
Vancouver: Latrell Sprewell – with the addition of the 92 draft, the top 5 is shaping up to be shaq, mchale, zo, davis and jbc. This is a big man draft so a Knicks great and probably one of the better guards who may squeak into the top 5, Latrell is a baller.
New Orleans: Weirdly, I'm excited to see if Christian Laettner becomes something in this league. He's been made a few times before in various leagues as a high-potential but not high skill guy, and a few times he ended up being an okay prospect. Is this the time that he finally breaks into the big time?
Cairo: I don’t know. I think it is a decent draft if you need a big guy, but probably not a very good draft if you need guard play. Looking around the league, pretty much everybody needs guard play so while I think this is gonna be a decent draft depth wise I don’t really even have a top 5 at this point. I guess the thing I am most excited about isn’t because I think the player is gonna be a star but whoever takes Bradley Beal super early because in real life he lives off a rep that his game hasn’t even gotten into the same stratosphere on. I love watching the positional reaches in the draft each year and I think he screams OMG he is gonna be a stud guard when it is more like Bradley Beal, league average starting guard. If we are talking a guy I think will be legitimately good I will say a guy a bunch of us were talking about last night in Andrew Toney. An explosive scoring guard who tons of real life HoFers swear was one of the best of the early 80s I think Toney has a chance to be a really good player.

That being said, I like the sneaky argument of Barnes and Green. Not sold on the let’s see what Laettner becomes talks. And Latrell? Dude for real? Minnesota isn’t grading this. Toney could be that guy hyped enough to get ratings boosts though!! I like it.

5) If you could have any non rookie 22 or under , who would it be?
Minnesota: Oden? I am constantly being told how great that Oden is. That Oden is some kind of something. Boy, this Oden is all anybody’s ever talking about. I’m so sick and tired of hearing about how brilliant that Oden is. Overrated. I'd trade him for picks.
Perth: Give me Kevin Durant please. I am scared to see how good of a scorer he becomes as he fills into his potential. While his low strength may hinder him a bit, he is a great athlete besides that and should be passable enough as a defender to be one of the best players in the league for his whole career. Already playing at an extremely high level, the sky is the limit for him, a future MVP candidate if he avoids the Grim TC Reaper. It is amazing to look at his numbers and just know that they can and will be so much better, just like the real life Durant, he’ll become more and more efficient until he is a killer.
Vancouver: Ugh this took me a while to find players under 22 that weren’t rookies. After much research, the answer here is clearly Greg Oden. Dude is a monster already putting up 26/10/2 with a 65 TS%. He’s also an absolute beast defensively and should continue to grow and prosper due to great size and insane athleticism.
New Orleans: I've got him already - and his name is TOOOOOOONY PARKER.
(But, since I already have him, it's pretty clearly Greg Oden, who I'm not sure anyone expected would be as good as he is this early.)
(But, since I already have him, it's pretty clearly Greg Oden, who I'm not sure anyone expected would be as good as he is this early.)
Cairo: Tony Parker. Next question! Seriously he is the 2nd best PG in the league at 22, he still has room to grow and PG is the most important position in the game in my opinion. He does it all, he single handedly is keeping the Jazz from being the Southern version of the Generals and I could keep going but I would run out of superlatives.
Bamberg: I REALLY wanted to go with Andrew Wiggins because I love his potential and ability to play multiple positions, but the choice is clearly Tony Parker. He's the best non-Stockton PG in the league, and we are rapidly approaching the day when we can remove the Stockton disclaimer. Parker can score, pass, defend...all probably while doing complex mathematics in his head. If the creation draft happened today, you can bet TP wouldn't last all the way to #14.

6) Who is your favorite to win GMotY (besides yourself)? IT Award?
Minnesota: Well, you already eliminated the obvious choice by telling me I can't pick myself so... ummm.. hmm.. I like the job that Portland has done since getting the job. 5-0? Can't argue those results. I give him my vote.
Perth: My favorite for GM of the year is ye ole faithful commissioner, Minnesota. He traded away young, albeit injured stud Sam Jones, you say. Yes, but he got back Patrick Ewing who has been one of the best players in the league as per counting stats, advanced stats and has led a one year turnaround in the twin cities. He is paired with KG to make one of the most intimidating big men duos in the league (its not Bobby Mac and Benoit Benjamin though) and is the key player on this currently second place team. We haven’t even talked about acquiring Sergei Belov, an absolute stud do-it-all Point Guard. I expected John to get good pretty quickly, but adding two talents of that level put this over the top.
As for IT, it is a familiar face in San Antonio. He is one of the worst teams in the league and has none of his picks, in fact he owns 1 Minnesota Timberwolves first and that is it. Maybe it is just bad coaching, because there is certainly talent there, but things are not working out.

Vancouver: I would have to vote Minnesota – snagged Westphal for free and then parlayed mediocre backups for Beijing’s 1st, which he was then able to flip for Belov. Sam Jones for Ewing also looks like a good deal. IT is probably Beijing – traded all his picks, has an old roster and just this morning gave away 2 good players for free99.
New Orleans: GMOTY is John for actually building a contender after a year of tanking. I hate typing that. On second though, never mind. I'll give it to, eh ... anyone else.
Sonics had IT locked up for me until they managed to deal away The Contract. Now, I'll just go with the guy who took on The Contract: San Antonio.

Cairo: GMOTY = Minnesota he rebuilt that whole roster from Wiggins and KG and a pile of poop to a team that if kept together should be the favorite in the Americas this year come playoff time. Deep, defensive minded and athletic way to go, Minnesota.
IT Award = Spurs. I thought they were on a better path at the start of the year but then the need to trade kicked in apparently. Have given up there pick currently laying third and just traded for Eddie Jones aka the worst contract in the league who may win them just enough games to get them out of the top 3 which would be great for the Generals who own their pick. Even after talking with him more recently it is unclear what he values in players so I am not sure what he is doing. On the plus side I enjoy chatting with him, just wish I could grasp the plan more.

Bamberg: GMotY is always tough to call, but I'll throw my money on Minnesota right now. The one year rebuilds are always the flashy way to go, but the deal they scored Ewing with was great, regardless of how you feel about Sam Jones.
