| Kelvin Ransey(#14)Height: 6-1 Weight: 170 lbs. Position: Point Guard Born: May 3, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio Age Drafted: 22 College: Ohio State University Source: Basketball Reference |
StrengthsThe number four pick in the 1980 draft Kelvin Ransey was a bit of a floor general, he didn't light up the scoreboards heavily but did average 11 a game for his career as well as 3 good seasons around 7 APG, and finishing with 5 per game for his career. While he wasn't able to get to the line often, he was a very good FT shooter. A speedy combo guard in college, played the point in his brief 6 year career before moving on to become a preacher. WeaknessesBust is a word that gets thrown alot, and Ransey did finish 2nd in Rookie of the Year voting. Ransey had no deep range and was not an overly efficient jump shooter either. Not a super athlete, he wasn't a good rebounder, and only averaged 1 SPG which I find low for a PG. Ransey will never be a starter in this league, but maybe an okay backup NotesAll Rookie 1st Team, Top 10 in Assists Twice.
