Andrew Bynum(#17)Height: 7-0 Weight: 285 lbs. Position: Center Born: October 27, 1987 in Plainsboro, New Jersey Age Drafted: 18 College: Source: Basketball Reference |
Strengths
Massive frame and strength. A solid athlete for his size although he will never be considered a sprinter. Uses soft hands and strength to turn and finish with either hand and has a decent number of counter moves for a young post (.556 career fg%). Solid post defender and shot blocker (1.6 in 25mpg for career). Flashes dominance as a rebounder (Career high 11.8) but is inconsistent. Takes care of the ball well when double teamed (Career 1.5 turnovers per game)
Weaknesses
Durability is a concern career seems to be effectively over by 25 due to knee injuries and he only played 60+ games 3 times in his 9 years in the league. When healthy is a beast but durability may be in part due to his weight. Not much of a leaper and can struggle in pick n rolls. Stamina and foul trouble can limit his effectiveness at time (only averaged 30+ mpg twice). No range to speak of is an old school post who is best in the post but can hit the occasion 8-10 foot jumper. Although he doesn't turn the ball over when doubled he also does not find the open man (1.2 apg playing in the triangle)
Notes
1 Time All Star, 2nd Team ALL NBA in 2011, 2 time NBA Champion, McDonalds All American. To my knowledge has not dated a Kardashian. Drafted 10th overall in the 2005 NBA Draft.
