Name: Bostjan Nachbar
Position: Small Forward, Power Forward
Number: 7
DOB: July 3, 1980
Age when drafted: 21
College: N/A
Hometown: Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 221
STRENGTHS:
Nachbar has very good size for a Small Forward. He's quick enough to play the position on offense, which, combined with his height, gives him a good advantage over most 3s. Nachbar has a high release point and will be able to shoot over mostly anyone. In real life, he struggled early on, but carved out a nice role for the Nets for 2 years as their 6th man, averaging 16 pts and 6 rbs per 36 minutes. Nachbar's claim to fame was his shooting, which was very streaky in the NBA. He had up and down years, but didn't become a lights-out shooter until his last two seasons. Otherwise, Nachbar is athletic enough to attack the rim, which adds some diversity to his game.
WEAKNESSES:
Nachbar has no mid-range game, shooting 26% for his career between 10-16 feet. That limits him to basically spot-up 3-point shots and straight-line drives to the basket. Nachbar is not a playmaker at all and should not be used as such. Lastly, he was so streaky in the NBA that he almost lost his job before the Nets developed him. He's overall a very low efficiency player who didn't diversify his game beyond the 3-point shot even in the Euroleague. On defense, he shows flashes with his intensity, but is probably not fast enough to guard 3s or strong enough to guard 4s.
