Name: Juan Dixon
Position: Shooting Guard, Point Guard
Number: 3, 12
DOB: October 9, 1978
Age when drafted: 23
College: Maryland
Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 164
STRENGTHS:
Juan Dixon is a baller. He led Maryland to the NCAA Championship in 2002 as a great shooter who could also score around the rim. He's tough, clutch, and a fierce competitor, and could be more ready for the pro's than many other rookies. Dixon's an adequate ball handler who can create off the dribble, and has a knack for stealing the ball on defense. In addition, Dixon's a great free throw shooter. Could be the best on your team. In real life, Dixon also eventually became a good 3-point shooter, hitting 42% at his height and 38% in his overall best year.
WEAKNESSES:
Dixon is fairly old for this draft class. He'll be 24 years old before the season starts and it's questionable just how much he can improve upon his weaknesses. At 164 pounds, he's very weak. While he will probably struggle to score around the rim, he also might struggle from distance. Dixon excelled at the college 3-point shot, but it's unknown if he can extend his range even more. Dixon is almost positionless, a scoring 2-guard who is small for even a PG. In real life, he essentially turned into a poor man's Lou Williams. Dixon's playmaking abilities are far from competent enough for him to play PG, and he struggles on defense to guard quicker 1's and stronger 2's. Finally, Dixon might struggle athletically at the professional level.
