DOB: March 9, 1980
Age when drafted: 22
College: UCLA
Hometown: Santa Clara, CA
Height: 6'7"

STRENGTHS:
Matt Barnes is a do-it-all type of role player, a good guy to have off your bench to fill any kind of role. He's a guy who can motivate your team and will be the first player to have someone's back. Barnes can stretch the floor with a decent 3-point shot, can take players off the dribble, and post others up. He's a smart cutter and seems to know where to be on offense. Defensively, Barnes shines with his willingness to guard the opposition's best player, 2-4 and even 1-5 on occasion. He's a tough guy who attacks the basket and does not back down from any challenge. On any part of the game that hinges upon effort, like defensive rebounding, Barnes excels.
WEAKNESSES:
Barnes is ridiculously hot-headed. As great as it is to have someone with that passion, he can cost teams games with ejections and suspensions. In addition, he's fairly raw. In real life, he was cut and spent 18 months in the D League before he even logged NBA minutes. He's a classic tweener forward, with strengths at the 4 that expose his weaknesses at the 3, and vice versa. He's stuck between positions even though he has the build of a 3. For instance, he's a good ball handler and shooter for a 4, but bordering on inadequate for a 3. He's weak for a 4, but strong for a 3.
SIGNIFICANT INFO:
Played for 9 NBA teams (two twice)
High-School All-American wide receiver
Has numerous fights and ejections worth YouTube'ing
