Last year's Eurasia conference champion wins in a nail biter
The first real test of the season for Belgrade came against last year's conference champion, Newcastle. Led by Anthony Davis' impressive 39 point, 10 rebound and 5 block performance Newcastle entered the 4th quarter with a tie game and squeaked out a victory. However, a combined 61 point effort from Nowitzki and Dumars wasn't enough with Baylor chipping in 28 points to help Davis. A high scoring game with a combined 68 three point attempts (on atrocious percentages) and neither team proving capable of stopping the other.

In just the second serious matchup of the season, Belgrade entered the fourth quarter down by two and retaliated for the 3 point loss to Newcastle by winning against Mikawa by the same slim margin. Istanbul routes Belgrade in dominating fashion
The game was not anywhere near as close as the score says. Istanbul led by 23 points entering the fourth quarter and was carried by LeBron's 35 point, 5 rebound, 5 assist game and Beal's impressive 32 points on eight threes. They also attempted 36 free throws as a team compared to the paltry 5 Belgrade got. Istanbul looks to be a very dangerous team this year having surrounded LeBron - and emerging star Bradley Beal - with a cast of defensive studs.
Final Result: 118-107 Anadolu Efes
