So most of you from ABCA Legends know that I used to do a series of articles each season where I would rank teams based on various metrics. Since Ultimate ABCA has began, I have all but abandoned those articles for a number of reasons. First, I just don't have the time to put that data together. Second, Piraeus has really taken the reigns and put together a quality power ranking each sim. So while I didn't want to start the Power Rankings back up, I wanted to find a new series of articles that I could put together multiple times through the season that would be hopefully just as interesting. The two things that we all like to do in this league is look at how our team stacked up against the rest of the league (power rankings) and how our players performed compared to others so...
In this article we will be looking at the top performers of each sim. What I mean by that is we will take a closer look at different statistical categories and see who the best of the best was for the sim. Some of the categories we will look at are:
- Top 5 Scorers
- Top 5 Passers (assist)
- Top 5 Rebounders
- Top 5 Shot Blockers
- Top 5 Ball Thieves (steals)
I will also include my spreadsheet for each sim so that you can look at the league as whole in each of these categories

So now that the long winded introduction is done (they won't be that long in the future lol) let's get into it.
Sim Three Top Scorers
Kevin McHale (Olympiacos BC) - 32.5 Points Per Game
- There isn't a person in the league that is surprised that Kevin McHale is sitting atop this list of scorers. I didn't track Sim One or Two but I'd wager to guess that McHale was #1 for both of those sims as well. For all intents and purposes he is the only scorer on this team but that still doesn't make what he did this sim any less impressive. Some would actually say this was a down sim for McHale as he is 4+ PPG away from his average and even had a game under 20 points. But when you see that he had two games this sim where he 40+ points including his best game where he put up 47 against Brose in a 35 point win then it makes any critique you may have seem a bit silly.
Anthony Davis (Flamengo) - 28.6 Points Per Game
- Coming in at #2 is the guy that everyone has long predicted would be an MVP someday in this league and if he keeps having scoring sims like this then I wouldn't be surprised if that day is sometime soon. Unlike everyone else in this top 5 though, AD's scoring didn't equal wins this sim because while he gave his team at least 21 points every game and even hit 30+ on three occasions it was only enough for them to go 3-4 over the two week stretch. He did have one hell of a performance when he put up 38 points against Vancouver even if his team still ended up falling 9 points short of victory.
Joe Dumars (REAL) - 26.5 Points Per Game
- Kicking off the top three is another Point Guard in Joe Dumars. Dumars is currently the highest scoring guard in the league so it's to be expected that he finds his way into the top five. The electric combo guard was hot every time he stepped onto the court this sim putting up at least 20 points in every game as he led his team to a 4-2 record. While he put up 31 twice this sim, I'd have to say his most impressive scoring performance was against Auckland in a 42 point win. Don't be surprised to see him on this list with some consistently
Tony Parker (Jazz) - 25.5 Points Per Game
- Talk of his demise has been greatly exaggerated and Tony Parker showed that in multiple ways this sim. Tying PPG with Kevin Durant, he also only had a single game where he didn't hit 20 points. He kicked the sim off with a bang was he had his best performance in game one against Sergei Belov and Brazil in a 23 point blowout where he put up 38 points in the game.
Kevin Durant (Boca Juniors BC) - 25.5 Points Per Game
- Coming in at #5 (really tied for 4 & 5) is Kevin Durant who is flying a bit under the radar because their GM is away. However KD put up some big scoring numbers this sim with every game besides one hitting the 20 point per game mark. He carried his team to a 4-2 sim with his elite scoring. He averaged 43.7 MPG to do it but his scoring was still extremely impressive. His best scoring performance of the sim was definitely his 35 point outing against Barcelona in a five point victory.
Note: The rest of these won't have as long of writeups often times because these other stats aren't as exciting as scoring.
Sim Three Top Passers
Isiah Thomas (Fubon Braves) - 12.4 Assist Per Game
- The top assist man for this sim was Taipei Fubon's leading man Isiah Thomas as he dished out at least 10+ Assist in 6 straight games after starting the sim off with an 8 assist night. Most impressive would have to be his 16 assist night against the Washington Generals even though his team couldn't get it done.
John Stockton (Knicks) - 11.9 Assist Per Game
- The top passer in the league actually had a bit of a down sim when it comes to distributing the ball with a full assist less than his season average of 12.9. However nearly 12 assist per game is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you realize he did it by having 10+ Assist in every game but one with his best being 15 against Minnesota.
Jason Kidd (Titans) - 11.0 Assist Per Game
- Jason Kidd kicks off the top 3 with a monstrous 11 assist per game sim. He had at least 10 assist in all five of the Titans first games before missing the mark in the final two with 9 and 6 respectively. He's been this team's leading scorer this year but he's most impressive when he's dropping dimes like he did against San Francisco when he had 13 assist (1 turnover)
Guy Rodgers (Mikawa) - 9.8 Assist Per Game
- Probably one of the more underrated guards on this list as Guy Rodgers has consistently shown himself to be a top passer in the league but doesn't get much mention. He continued to build his reputation this sim with three games of at least 10 assist out of 8 games. His most impressive being his 15 assist game (1 turnover) when matched up against the Flamengo and Eric Snow.
Joe Dumars (REAL) - 9.2 Assist Per Game
- This is our 2nd list and our 2nd appearance from Joe Dumars. He hit double digits in assist three times this sim in six attempts. His best passing game was the same game as his best scoring game as he added 14 assist (1 turnover) to his 31 points against Auckland.
Sim Three Top Rebounders
Andrew Bynum (Grizzlies) - 11.8 Rebounds Per Game
- The 7 foot Andrew Bynum is leading the way this sim after a handful of monster rebound games. Now unlike some others on this list, Bynum maybe wasn't the most consistent rebounder this sim but when he crashed the boards he did it with a vengeance with four games of 11 or better in terms of rebounds. His strongest night was against the Timberwolves where he grabbed 18 boards (5 offensive) in defeat.
Anthony Mason (Globetrotters) - 11.5 Rebounds Per Game
- Anthony Mason may be considered a specialist that doesn't have a lot of variety to his game but this sim he continued to show why he is a damn good specialist that anyone would love on their team. Averaging 11.9 RPG on the season he topped 11+ again this sim with 6 games of 10 rebounds or better. He had one of his more impressive nights when he grabbed 15 rebounds against the New York Knicks' big front court.
Joel Embiid (Bulls) - 11.4 Rebounds Per Game
- JBC was mentioned below but the other half of this major big man swap was even more impressive on the boards this sim. Embiid grabbed at least 10 boards in all but one game (against the Knicks) with a sim high of 15 rebounds in a win against one of his old teams, the San Antonio Spurs.
Joe Barry Carroll (Celtics) - 11.2 Rebounds Per Game
- JBC responded to being traded to the Celtics by having arguably one of his best rebounding stretch of his career. In five games he hit double digits four times which included an impressive 16 rebound game in a 2 point loss to the Wildcats.
Ben Wallace (Maccabi) - 11.2 Rebounds Per Game
- Big Ben is the 2nd player in this three way tie after an impressive rebounding showing this sim. This included a 14 rebound game against Brazil Franca which was only one of his 5 games with at least 10 rebounds in the game.
Danny Schayes (Warriors) - 11.2 Rebounds Per Game
- Schayes forces us to add a 6th spot to the top rebounders due to a 3 way tie. Schayes put himself back into the conversation as the long term starter this sim as he was a man possessed in his first shot starting this sim. He grabbed at least 10 boards in every game this sim with a 13 rebound game against the Lakers in a win.
Sim Three Top Shot Blockers
Pau Gasol (Knicks) - 4.9 Blocks Per Game
- This sim there were great blockers and then there was a shot blocker that went beyond that. Pau Gasol blocked more than a shot more per game than anyone else in the league this sim and did so by having at least 4 blocks in every game but one (he had 2 against Seattle). His most impressive was his 7 block game against the Chicago Bulls.
Andrew Bynum (Grizzlies) - 3.8 Blocks Per Game
- Bynum once again finds himself in the spotlight because after being the top rebounder this sim, he comes in at #2 for the sim's top shot blockers. Much like the #3 player on this list, Bynum shows his taller front courtmate that he is the man patrolling Vancouver's paint with at least 2 blocks in every game this sim. His top game saw him block 7 shots while being matched up with ABCA superstar Patrick Ewing.
Dario Saric (Sonics) - 3.8 Blocks Per Game
- Saric returned to the Sonics starting lineup with a defensive vengeance this sim where he picked up 2 blocks at minimum in every game. You'd think Sabonis would be the guy rejecting shots left and right in Seattle but Saric showed he's the Sonics rim protector when he picked up 5 & 6 blocks respectively in back to back nights against the Knicks.
Dikembe Mutombo (Olympiacos BC) - 3.7 Blocks Per Game
- There was a lot of finger wagging when teams faced off against Piraeus this sim as Deke registered at least 2 blocks in every game this sim. He's not going to fill up the stat sheet the same way his front courtmate does with his scoring but when you can pick up 6 blocks in a game like Deke did against Bamberg you are still going to leave a lot of people impressed.
Bill Russell (Mikawa) - 3.5 Blocks Per Game
- Bill Russell kicks things off at #5 shot blockers for this sim. He refused to let anyone get anything around the rim while he was in the game with at least a block in all but one of his games. His most impressive hast to be his 8 block game against Toronto where he also only had one foul.
Sim Three Top Thieves (Steals)
John Stockton (Knicks) - 4.0 Steals Per Game
- Another list & another Knicks player sitting in the #1 spot. Much like his teammate Pau Gasol, Stockton finishes with 1 more steal than pretty much every other player (besides Zoran's 2 game stretch) with 4 steals per game on the sim. Every game this sim besides one he had at least 3 steals (with his only non 3+ Steal game being 2 against Bamberg). His most impressive showing is up for debate as he had five steals in three separate game (Harlem, Chicago, Seattle) so we'll leave it at that.
Zoran Slavnic (Aoshen) - 4.0 Steals Per Game
- Tied for the top spot is another Aoshen player (see entry #3) who is a bit of a cop out since he only played in two games this sim but in those two games he was a pest on defense with 2 steals and then 6 in the next. The aforementioned 6 steal game against REAL is easily his best defensive game this sim.
Doug Christie (Aoshen) - 3.0 Steals Per Game
- The only non-PG on this list, Doug Christie made sure that his matchup at SF was uncomfortable every night this sim when he was on defense. He had one game this sim where he had less than 2 steals and he still made sure to at least get one in that game. His top game game against Belgrade where he snatched 5 steals when facing Lamond Murray.
Isiah Thomas (Fubon Braves) - 2.9 Steals Per Game
- IT may not have hit his 3.3 SPG season average this sim but he comes in at 4th with an impressive 2.9 steals per game this sim. The ball was never safe when he was on defense picking up at least a steal in every game this sim. Just like the #5 entry, he had a sim high of 7 steals when he faced off against Jason Kidd and the Titans.
Guy Rodgers (Mikawa) - 2.8 Steals Per Game
- Guy Rodgers is one of many guards to be making their second appearance in this article. Once again proving that he's underrated, Guy Rodgers shows that he isn't just a distributor but also a great ball thief this sim with at least one steal in every game while not even being at his best. His strongest night of defensive harassment came against the Toronto Raptors when he picked up 7 steals.
In this article we will be looking at the top performers of each sim. What I mean by that is we will take a closer look at different statistical categories and see who the best of the best was for the sim. Some of the categories we will look at are:
