Keon Clark(#13)Height: 6-11 Weight: 220 lbs. Position: Center and Power Forward Born: April 16, 1975 in Danville, Illinois Age Drafted: 23 College: University of Nevada, Las Vegas Source: Basketball Reference |
Strengths
For a very brief period of time, Keon Clark was one of the best shot-blockers in the league. He had crazy length and exceptional jumping ability, that would change every opponents shot around the net. After being acquired mid-season by the Raptors in 2001, he averaged 4.1 blocks per 36 minutes for the remainder of the season, helping the team's playoff run. He was also an excellent rebounder, averaging 9.5 rebounds per 36 minutes over his career (including 3 offensive rebounds). Because of his length and athleticism, he was naturally an effective defender. While he wasn't a great scorer, he could throw down some nasty dunks.
Weaknesses
Was not a reliable scorer, averaging just 8.2 points per game on his career, with his best season being 11.3 points per game. The only way he could score was to use his quickness, length, and jumping ability to beat a slower post defender to the rim and dunk on their face. Couldn't shoot a three if his life depended on it, and was a below-average passer even for a big man (averaging less than 1 assist per game on his career). Not a strong FT shooter (averaging 65% on his career).
Notes
Clark was a rare specimen in that he had length, quickness and jumping ability, but VERY little strength.
