| Tom Chambers(#22)Height: 6-10 Weight: 220 lbs. Position: Power Forward Born: June 21, 1959 in Ogden, Utah Age Drafted: 22 College: University of Utah Source: Basketball Reference |
StrengthsAthletic PF known for his posterizing dunks, Chambers actually has a well rounded game. Able to do some damage down low, but does a lot of damage in transition with his leaping ability and developed into a reliable shooter (.807 from line) including out to the three point line (career .307) both which made him hard to guard in two man pick situations. Gets to the line quite a bit for a guy who doesn't live in the paint (5.7). In his prime made the All Star game 4 times in 5 years and averaged at least 20 points in 4 of those seasons including 2 years of 25+. Put up 17 a game as rookie so offensively he is ready to score right away. WeaknessesFoul prone (3.4 per game) and not a great shot blocker or stealer of the basketball although he does play decent defense. Despite good physical abilities is a subpar rebounder (6.1 per game with career high of 8.4). Struggled with turnovers early in the career but improved later on to finish with an average of 2.3 per game. Neither a good nor bad passer for a big man putting up about 2 apg, mostly coming in transition. Did not have the bulk for Center or the skills for SF. Notes4 Time All Star, 1 time All Star MVP. 2 time 2nd Team All NBA. Current AttributesINS | JPS | FTS | 3PS | HND | PAS | ORB | DRB | PSD | PRD | STL | BLK | QCK | STR | JMP | STA |

StrengthsChambers should be pretty good offensively as he averaged over 20ppg 5 times (and one season at 19.9) over his 16 year career. Known as an up-tempo kind of guy, he was famous for his ferocious transition dunks. Because of his athleticism Chambers got to the line quite a bit, averaging 5.7 for his career and was closer to the 7 range in his prime. Not only did he get to the line a lot, but he was a very prolific FT shooter averaging over 80% for his career. He was also a good mid-range shooter and developed a pretty good 3-point shot for a big man averaging over 30% for his career. WeaknessesThe big knocks on Chambers will be his ability to defend and rebound. While not a necessarily bad man to man defender his lack of strength and weight will probably allow bigger more conventional PFs to push him around in the paint. In his career he was 5 times in the top 10 in overall fouls. He will have similar problems rebounding as he only averaged over 8rpg once in his career and averaged 6.1rpg for his career. Chambers is a bit of a tweeter as his skill-set and athleticism lean towards a SF, but his size and defensive ability will probably force him to strictly play PF.
