Christian Laettner(#32)Height: 6-11 Weight: 235 lbs. Position: Power Forward and Center Born: August 17, 1969 in Angola, New York Age Drafted: 23 College: Duke University Source: Basketball Reference |
Strengths
Laettner, who is viewed by many as one of the best college players of all time and as a pro averaged 13ppg, 7rpg, and 3apg. During his first 5 seasons he averaged over 16ppg each of them and over 10ppg in two other seasons. Laettner was a very good FT shooter averaging 82% from the line. Christian had a good low post game that benefited from being able to step out and hit a midrange jumper. He shot 48% from the field during his career. Christian has very good hands for a bigman, and averaged 1.1 SPG.
Weaknesses
Just ok in alot of areas of his game. He didn't feature a ton of weaknesses for a bigman, just didn't excel. Laettner was never a guy that you could count on being on the court due to fouls due to lack of speed. He averaged only 29 minutes a night while being a starter for most of his career. Not much on the shot blocking front either only averaged 0.8 BPG and only 1 BPG or more 5 times.
Notes
1 Time All Star, All Rookie 1st Team.
Great college player that ended up being just an okay pro. Should have been a game changer for the Wolves and had a few good seasons there before becoming a journeyman type.
