So I saw MPLS used an upgrade on Andrew Wiggins, and having a very young player myself made me wonder if it is worth it to do while they are young? Do you find it's better to wait til they are closer to the age they no longer can die, or do you value the upgraded stats now and hope for the best?
I don't have a ton of experience with upgrades working for both current and potential as I only had a few upgrades put into Shaq in Legends and it didn't seem to make a lick of difference.

I tend to not upgrade guys until there 2nd contract ideally around age 25 or 26 for me. I have had it work well doing it that way and I think it miminizes the risk a bit.

I've gone both ways and I'll say it depends.
I've upgraded young guys like Dan Issel (didn't work out), Otis Birdsong (did work out) and older players (27+) like Zoran Slavnic and Adrian Dantley.
If you have worked a long time to earn the PP, I probably wouldn't risk it on a young guy because this is your one shot at bumping a guy up and it'd suck to see that go to waste with a TC drop. If you earn a decent amount of PP on the regular or don't really care much about the risk then it may make sense to go for it.
There are definitely some advantages to pumping PP into guys at a young age. As much as I say the Issel upgrade didn't work out, he died at 26 years old after at least 5 seasons with me. If I would've waited until he was 27 like I did with Dantley he would've had about that long before he started declining anyway.
I've even debated upgrading Oden despite knowing the risk for the potential pro of him being a top 5 player for the next 10 seasons even with the risk of him potentially dying next season.
