Collaboration, Alternation, BugaNation ... who knows, who cares, you won't read this top part anyway. It was done by New Orleans and Seattle together. Thank you Google Drive for allowing us to both type in a document and speed the process up.
1) Chicago Bulls - SG Pete Maravich - Chicago has completely torn down his roster and starting with nothing. Getting a legit guard who will likely slide to the point to build around makes sense. Possible trade spot here to get more assets.
2) Tel Aviv Maccabi - C Yao Ming - With a solid assortment of forwards and guards already in place, Tel Aviv looks to fill the hole at center with Yao Ming. Yao brings something that not many centers have, height. Yao can come in and start right away.
3) Perth Wildcats - C Bob Lanier - At this point I feel he’s number 3 in what looks like an obvious top 3. Even with a young center, Lanier is better currently and with a much higher ceiling. Passing up BPA at this point isn’t a good idea.
4) Real Madrid - C Dave Cowens - Just like Tel Aviv, Real has every position filled but center and grabs the hard nosed Dave Cowens to come in and give them a much needed inside presence.
5) Brazil Franca BC - C Walt Bellamy - With no real big on the roster and plenty of players in the backcourt. It makes sense to grab a big man who can score the ball inside and rebound it as well. Will need work defensively but not an issue.
6) New York Knicks - SG Charlie Scott - New York looks to complete his young backcourt by acquiring Charlie Scott to play the two wing spots. Scott is an athletic slasher that can sometimes slide to the lead guard. His defense is not elite but he should be a solid defender.
7) Milano Olimpia - PF Amar’e Stoudamire - Milano has depth at most positions but everyone can use an athletic big who can score and rebound the ball. Amar’e is a lot like a current big on his roster but talented enough to give him flexibility.
8) Newcastle Eagles - SF Caron Butler - With Justise Winslow’s efficiency issues, Newcastle drafts Caron Butler to give them another look at the position and allowing Winslow to slide to the 4 in some lineups to run the small ball with Davis anchoring the post.
9) Aalborg Vikings - PG Tiny Archibald - Tiny oddly enough has more size than Calvin and that will likely enough to get the Vikings excited. He’s gonna need another guard and will be excited the two PGs fell his way.
10) Portland Trailblazers - PG Calvin Murphy - With the uninspiring trio of Flynn Robinson, Ronnie Fields, and Dell Curry at guard, Murphy brings in some much needed fresh blood to the backcourt, regardless of role. Murphy’s probably at his best as a sixth man that can come in and create offense by himself with his ability to attack the basket and his athleticism.
11) San Francisco Warriors - SG Geoff Petrie - Adding another athlete in the backcourt next to Gail and Gervin makes sense. Petrie will be able to score it and reminds me a lot of Darrell Griffith. He would slide in as a starter right away as a fairly developed prospect.
12) Real Madrid - SG Ralph Simpson - Real has a ton of depth and after the Dave Cowens selection, takes Ralph Simpson as the BPA. Simpson brings a pretty solid all-around game, as well as above-average athleticism.
13) Seattle Supersonics - SF Tayshaun Prince - Seattle needs a wing to eat some minutes and has the ability to play the two through four. Prince provides that while being able to hit outside shots. Some added defense on the wing will be welcomed as well.
14) New York Knicks - PF Dan Issel - With the selection of Charlie Scott on the perimeter, the Knicks turn towards the post with the rebounder and scorer Dan Issel. Issel will not be an impactful defender without some serious camping or TC jumps, but his offensive work should offset that.
15) New Orleans Jazz - SG Randy Smith - Although the Jazz typically target shooters and could likely use another big, passing up on the BPA in Randy Smith at this point to be yet another combo guard on the roster wouldn’t make sense. There is likely a trade coming soon with those guards anyway.
16) Piraeus Olympiacos BC - SF Doug Moe - With the top 7 on Piraeus team already filled out and the only position without a backup being the 3 for them, they grab utility player Doug moe, who can come in, grab some boards, and not be a hinderance on either end of the floor.
17) Vancouver Grizzlies - SG Manuel Raga - The Grizzlies need guards after the recent dealings and will likely want someone who can help them compete right away. Raga is 26 and doesn’t need much developing to be a starting guard or 6th man. Makes sense to me.
18) Istanbul Anadolu Efes - PG Larry Siegfried - No player on the roster deserves to tie Lebron’s shoes, much less start in the backcourt Siegfried comes in and gives this team some much needed ball handling and perimeter defense.
19) Piraeus Olympiacos BC - C Sam Lacey - Lacey has potential to be a very good big and it makes sense as someone who can pass the ball unlike most of the other forwards and bigs. He’s as solid as they come and could have the skillset to steal a few minutes at the 4 if needed.
20) Chicago Bulls - SF Don Kojis - With literally nothing on their roster, Chicago goes BPA and takes Don Kojis fill the SF position for him. Kojis can come in to attack the basket and grab some boards when Pistol misses.
21) Seattle Supersonics - PF Garfield Heard - We heard the Sonics love Rodman so why not grab someone a lot like him. He can defend the 3 or 4 and will rebound extremely well. Has some athleticism but gives you almost nothing on offense.
22) Minnesota Timberwolves - C Billy Paultz - the lane clogger Paultz can come in to backup the center sport for 12-16 minutes a game and provide stellar defense and rebounding. Minnesota should be jumping for joy at this selection.
23) Taipei Fubon Braves - SG Juan Carlos Navarro - Taipei can use some scoring with a host of defenders on the roster. Adding a guy who can knock down shots will space the court for IT and Draymond to work. Sorely needed so he can play different ways in the playoffs.
24) Shanghai Sharks - SG Fred Jones - Shanghai really needs an impact player at the 2 and Jones athleticism makes him 1 TC jump away from being a scary player. Jones should draw a lot of fouls when he attacks the basket and will be able to knock down free throws.
25) Buenos Aires Boca Juniors - SF Mike Dunleavy Jr - There is plenty of defense on this roster as well and can use the shooting. Dunleavy isn’t very athletic but BA plays a pretty slow pace so he should survive.
26) Real Madrid - Rudy Tomjanovich - At this point in the draft, BPA is the only option left. Rudy has the potential to be a scorer and rebounder that can back up the 3 and 4.
27) Cleveland Cavaliers - SF Matt Barnes - Barnes isn’t very skilled but is a decent athlete and can defend it a little bit. Nothing special but if he were to jump a little, could be very useful. Cleveland just needs depth at this point.
28) Real Madrid - C Nene Hilario - This pick looks to be a draft and stash in the D League. Nene’s athleticism is his one shining quality, which is a really good quality to have as it always makes player better than their skill shows.
29) Brooklyn Nets - PF Carlos Boozer - Boozer may not be able to play much 5 the way Brooklyn needs but he could make it work with other defenders on the court and use Booz as a rebounder. Not bad for a late first.
30) Bamberg Brose Baskets - PG Jay Williams - Jay Williams can become a solid 12 MPG backup guard. Williams does not have many weaknesses but he does not have many strengths either.
31) Boston Celtics - PF Tom Meschery - One of those players the game doesn’t seem to like when it comes to colors but he’s very skilled and a solid athlete. Will be able to play and defend the 3 or 4 in most systems. Could end up a steal if he jumps with those skills.
32) Perth Wildcats - SF Rasual Butler - Butler can come in right away and knock a few three’s down throughout the season if he actually stays on the main roster. He is most likely a draft and stash though.
