I don't love doing a lot of write up for these things anymore, as I think the votes and the voters speak for themselves. I will say that I think it was pretty interesting that we had way more different teams selected for IT than we did for GMotY...I don't know if that means the good teams were more obvious or the bad teams were just more spread out, but it was an odd dynamic.
I also did something new this season...next to each teams' total vote count, I put in parentheses how many total ballots each team appeared on. I think it is interesting to see how some of these would turn out if some teams weren't left off so many ballots. For those wondering, 21 total ballots were turned in...so even Beijing, who wins GMotY for the first time, was left off of 5 ballots.
GMotY
Beijing 50 (16) - GMotY and winner of 300PP
New York 47 (15) - 200PP
Mexico City 44 (13) - 100PP
Rio de Janeiro 43 (13)
Seattle 34 (11)
Piraeus 32 (12)
Vancouver 28 (9)
Chicago 12 (4)
Bamberg 7 (3)
Mikawa 6 (4)
Madrid 4 (2)
Moscow 4 (1)
Harlem 3 (1)
San Antonio 1 (1)
IT
Istanbul 17 (7) - IT Winner
Harlem 14 (6)
Boston 10 (5)
Buenos Aires 11 (5)
San Antonio 9 (6)
Brazil 8 (3)
Cairo 5 (3)
Moscow 5 (2)
Minnesota 5 (2)
Madrid 7 (4)
San Francisco 6 (3)
Madrid 3 (1)
Los Angeles 3 (1)
Vancouver 2 (1)
Mexico City 1 (1)
Perth 1 (1)
Auckland 1 (1)
Portland 1 (1)
Belgrade 1 (1)
On the IT side, no one got more than 7 votes, and one team honestly picked up 4 votes in the last hour or so of voting because people forgot how utterly annoying he is...so this could have gone a lot of ways.
In the end, Istanbul picks up their first IT award.
