Gheorge Muresan
Right-Handed
Center
7'7" 303 pounds
22 years old
Hometown: Triteni, Romania
Strengths: Gheorghe Muresan is a giant. He's as big as the biggest ABCA player, ever, Manute Bol, but is significantly stronger. Although he was kind of a gimmick pick, the last selection in a draft that featured 7'6" Shawn Bradley as the #2 pick, Muresan managed to carve out a solid NBA career. He has a nice touch around the basket, a somewhat promising mid-range game, and good timing on his blocks. Moreover, while not a dominant rebounder, his length alone allows him to grab boards at a rate on par with most Centers. Finally, he's a strong and intimidating human being, not exactly like the weak Shawn Bradley and Manute Bol. He averaged 15/10/1/1/2 in less than 30 minutes during his best season in the league.
Weaknesses: Muresan is enormous, and unlike his large contemporaries, his weight advantage could further limit his speed. While he shows some promise in multiple facets of the game, he's fairly underwhelming considering his 7'7" frame. He quite frankly should be a better rebounder and shot blocker than he is, and being so close to the basket, he should finish a bit better. Ultimately, at the ABCA level, he's not going to have the quickness to compete except for in spot minutes. Moreover, in the NBA, Muresan's once-promising career was destroyed by injuries. He played in only 3 complete seasons.
