Tyrus Thomas
Right-Handed
Power Forward
6'9" 215 pounds
20 years old
Louisiana State University
Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Strengths: Tyrus Thomas can jump out of the gym. He compares favorably to Stromile Swift, who we recently saw enter the ABCA. What you'd expect from a high-jumping, slender forward with a long wingspan, Thomas does well: He blocks shots and catches alley-oops. Beyond that, parts of his game show more promise than others. He has good form on his jump shot and could eventually become a respectable mid-range shooter. He is very active on defense aside from blocks, using quick hands to disrupt passing lanes or to strip slower players.
Weaknesses: Thomas, while very athletic, is lacking in the strength departments. Scouts are concerned about his ability to bang down low with stronger ABCA forwards. Moreover, Thomas is incredibly raw. While he has good timing for blocks and alley-oops, he doesn't have much else to his game at the moment. His jump shot and post game are both lacking, and he does not have the fundamentals on offense or defense that you'd expect from a to-be professional. He looks clueless on offense when he is not leaping for an alley-oop and struggles with basic defensive concepts. Finally, Thomas is a poor rebounder with lacking fundamentals.
