Rajon Rondo
Right-Handed
Point Guard
6'1" 186 pounds
20 years old
University of Kentucky
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky
Strengths: Rajon Rondo is an interesting player who has attempted to redefine the PG position in the NBA. He is a triple-double machine and one of the best rebounding PGs in the league's history. Rondo also has incredible court vision, making spectacular passes, both simple and creative. He has enormous hands that help him with not only his rebounding and playmaking, but also his finishing ability. Rondo can dunk in the half-court and is very creative and effective finishing around the basket. He has excellent footwork, ball handling, body movement, and control. On defense, Rondo is a bit overrated but still possesses good instincts and quick hands.
Weaknesses: Despite being an amazing passer, Rondo is often referred to as a selfish player. He actively seeks out plays that will net him an assist rather than making the smart basketball play. He needs the ball in his hands, often, to be effective, and struggles without the ball. Rondo is also selfish on defense, gambling on steals and pass interceptions to get out on the break where can increase his stats two-fold (a steal and either a basket or assist). He is also short and not particularly strong, which hurts him on both sides of the ball. In addition, Rondo is turnover-prone as he tries to make very difficult plays. Finally, Rondo's Achilles' heel is his jump shot. For most of his career (until the last year and a half), he has been atrocious from 3-point land. He has only recently earned an upgrade as a bad shooter.
