The Beijing Aoshen Gain Endorsement through Round 3 Deal
AP, BEIJING- As the Ultimate ABCA Draft process continues to trundle along, the Beijing Aoshen made a huge move to move up in the third round to acquire shooting guard, Chuck Taylor. While some believe the move might have been pricey, Aoshen President of Basketball Operations Mike Klemencic thought the move necessary both for squad fit as well as gaining an incredible endorsement deal.
Deal Details:
Beijing sends: Generals 3rd Round Pick (#107), Aoshen 6th Round Pick (#210), 2 future 2nd round picks
Belgrade sends: KK Partizan 3rd Round Pick (#97), KK Partizan 7th Round Pick (#241)
Marty Blake, team scout, said that the choice to move up for Chuck stemmed from his past relationship with point guard Dick McGuire. "The two have been good friends for a while now. And their passing ability and defensive mind-meld will be crucial to the team's success on both ends of the floor."
Taylor, selected 97th overall, was ecstatic to hear the news of his selection and immediately made moves to open the market for his shoe brand in China. As the terms of his contract were being negotiated (rumored to start at $7,550,465), he laid out the terms for the iconic "Chuck's" to become the new brand of Beijing Basketball. The deal required no negotiations by either party and was signed instantly.
Upon hearing the news of their new teammate and endorsement, the first three draft selections by Beijing had this to say:
