GM Preferred Skills: * Perimeter Defense * Post Defense * Handling
Arena Name: * Louisiana Superdome * Maximum basketball seating capacity of 73,432 * The NBA's New Orleans Jazz used the Superdome as their home court, from 1975–1979. In 1977, the Jazz set a then-record in attendance for an NBA game, with 35,077 watching the Jazz led by Pete "Pistol Pete" Maravich against the Philadelphia 76ers, led by fellow future Hall of Famer Julius Erving.
Head Coach: * Jerry Sloan - Hall of Famer, only one losing record in his entire 23-year Utah career, 1,221 wins. Was originally hired as a scout for both the Bulls and Utah, coached two transcendent offensive stars in Stockton and Malone and his team was above 110 ORtg ten times during that span (typically top 5-10) and a DRtg under 105 14 times (also typically top 5-10).
Assistant Coaches: * Gordon Chiesa - Long time assistant coach under Sloan, is one of the few assistant coaches to serve both in the NBA Finals and the NCAA Final Four. Was a point guard in college and left his school as the all-time leader in assists and average - would be more of a hands-based AC. * Phil Johnson - Under Sloan, was four time AC of the year as voted on by other coaches. Played front court during his college days at Weber Junior College, and then coached off and on (including a stint as Coach of the Year with the Kansas City Kings in 1975). Big man coach, probably. * Jeff Hornacek - You know who he is - amazing shooting talent who served as AC for a few years before moving to Phoenix to be a head coach.
Scout: * Frank Layden - 1983-4 NBA Coach of the Year with the Jazz, number retired. Drafted and signed Stockton and Malone as GM. Is still team president of the Jazz, so all other picks and moves could be attributed to him. (He's been a GM off and on since 1979.)

FYI to any team putting a quality HC as an AC - you are only stunting the possibility that the coach you assign as an AC will ever be able to live up to their name. I can't give any team starting out 4 HOF coaches worth of skill on the bench.
(I am considering instituting a rule that if someone else names your AC as an HC then you need to pick again. I don't want to police that but I will if I have to.)

City/Team: New York Knickerbockers 3 GM Preferred Skills: 3PT, INS, PSD Arena Name: Madison Square Garden Head Coach: Pat Riley Assistant: Red Holzman Assistant: Jeff Van Gundy Assistant: Mike Malone Scout: Clarence Gaines Jr. Still deciding on my staff but decided to go with Pat Riley over Red Holzman. Holzman has the titles for New York and both are top 10 GMs but Pat Riley is top 5 in my eyes in terms of NBA coaches (behind Red A and Phil definitely but debatable for spots 3-5) and he is able to adapt to different teams more than Red which is important for a Head Coach in this game. Red might be more suited for an assistant coach in FBB3 especially seeing how he was made in Legends. Jeff Van Gundy was a quality Head Coach but his most success with the Knicks was as an Assistant under Pat Riley before all the bad blood of the Knicks/Heat rivalary. So I want to try and bring some of that to Ultimate ABCA. Red Holzman was added to the Knicks coaching staff. There is no greater coach in Knicks history then Red Holzman. I know he will be nerfed a bit by me putting him on my AC staff but no one seems to be claiming him as a Head Coach so i'll take a coach that will preach ball movement, defense and taking good shots. Mike Malone spent a few years as a Knicks assistant and I love this guys system. He's another piece that will preach defense (specifically post defense) and that is the type of staff I want in year one. Pat Riley, Red Holzman, Jeff Van Gundy, and Mike Malone all are quality defensive coaches. Malone is a bit of a grinder so his contribution of offense will come on the INS but that's fine with Holzman and Riley on the staff. For scouts i'm not sure. Gaines did good work in Chicago from my view and I believe in his Kristap selection . Could've went IT because he was a solid drafter despite the bad rep he has but didn't want that curse on my team. Donnie Walsh also had some hits and misses with the Pacers and Knicks so I considered him. It'll be between Walsh and Gaines more than likely so i'll think on it over the weekend. Like I said above I know Holzman will be nerfed a bit but I felt he fit nicely with the rest of the staff.

Post by New York on Aug 22, 2015 1:07:20 GMT
Riley for the knicks is just wrong I agree. Red is the obvious choice because of what he did as the Knicks head coach and if Jscott feels I have to place Red there then that's fine. But I wanted to go a different direction with Pat,who's coaching style I think suits FBB3 more. I have a strong dislike for Pat in reality and no way do I pick him over Red for anything in real life but this isn't real life
